Disney Chief Alan Horn has confirmed that shooting has already started on Episode VII
Following an announcement last week that principal photgraphy was slated to begin on May 14th in Morroco, Alan Horn confirmed that shooting has already begun in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.
Casting is mostly in place, and the screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and JJ Abrams (after Michael Arndt) is "where is needed to be".
A Jedi News blog on the Metro speculates that these early scenes may be "background plates" or Second Unit shooting taking place in Eygpt.
The action of Episode VII has now been placed “where 6 left off -- and where 6 left off is 35 years ago by the time this is released.”
Star Wars: Episode VII is due to be released on 18th December, 2015.
