The latest rumour surrounding Episode VII is that Peter Mayhew will return as Chewbacca.
The Hollywood Reporter announced that Mayhew has been cast as Han Solo's Wookiee companion and co-pilot of the Millennium Falcon. Speculation around his possible appearance occured after Mayhew recently cancelled a comic convention in Texas "due to filming".
A casting call for a “male 7 ft to 7.3 ft tall with a slim/thin build and upright posture. Not too worked out or too ‘thick set’ especially in the shoulders. Broad facial features would be a bonus” was released last year, leading to mainly to believe that Chewbacca would be in Episode VII.
Mayhew himself has said "I intend to pursue the role of Chewbacca for Episosde 7."
The 7' 3" actor, who will turn 70 next month, has suffered with knee problems and had surgery last year to help him walk.
While the character of R2-D2 has been announced, neither Kenny Baker or any other Original Trilogy cast members have been confirmed by Disney or Lucasfilm.
Here at Jedi-Robe.com we can't wait to see the "walking carpet" back in action.
