GEORGE LUCAS has lifted the lid on his long awaited two Star Wars TV projects.
The 3D animated series Clone Wars is likely to be on TV screens by the end of 2008 and scripts for a live action drama which will explore the Star Wars universe are about to be written.
The director of the six Star Was movies, told US TV Guide: “Clone Wars has got all the characters in it Yoda, Anakin, Obi Wan, the Emperor and all that ? so it’s basically the movie.
“The live action series is not the movie. It’s the Star Wars universe, but its characters who were previously minor and it follows their stories.
“It’s set between movies III and IV, when the Empire has taken over. The Emperor and Darth Vader are talked about but you never see them, as it doesn’t take place where they actually are.
“There are stormtroopers and all that, but there are no Jedi's.”
A hundred episodes of each production will be made and 40 have already been completed of Clone Wars.
George added: “We’d like to put it on about a year from now? But it has to go out after 9pm and it can’t go on a kiddie channel.
“It’s Star Wars and it’s really good so I’m sure it will find a home.
“I’m very excited about the animated series as I think it pushes a whole different direction of 3D animation.
“And the live action is going to be a real hoot as conceptually, it’s so much more interesting than anything I’ve ever done before.
